The MINI Electric, also known as the MINI Cooper SE, is the brand’s first fully electric vehicle. Launched in 2020, it retains the iconic MINI Hatch 3-Door design while incorporating a 32.6 kWh lithium-ion battery and electric motor. With zippy handling, a low centre of gravity, and instant torque, it delivers the classic MINI go-kart feel-only now emissions-free. Despite its compact battery size and modest real-world range (around 180-200 km), it’s a popular choice for city driving and short commutes. The Cooper SE combines style, tech, and sustainability in a familiar MINI package.

One of the most commonly noted drawbacks is the limited range, especially compared to other EVs in its class. The Cooper SE’s range can drop even further in cold weather or during aggressive driving, which may disappoint buyers used to longer-range EVs.
Some owners report that the charging port flap does not always close properly or can become misaligned over time. This can allow moisture to enter or cause difficulty when plugging in the charger.
